Prescriptions and Permission

Filed under: Family, My Life — happychick @ 6.38p06

OMG. I had a brain relapse when I wrote my last post and I have NEWS! Yesterday after school Mum took me to the doctors. We walked into the waiting room, and who should be there but Miss Math. Oh the embarrassment. She introduces herself to Mum, who looks at her blankly, till I stage-whisper "It's the Maths lady". Comprehension dawns on her face and they exchange polite conversation. We walk into the doctors office, and I come face-to-face with a stereotype. He was so old he could pass for my great-grandfather, of a Sri-Lankan (I'm guessing) background, and if I said I understood a word he said I would be lying out my ass.

So he says "Hello", in his wierd little accent. I say "Hi". We look at each other, both expecting the other to break the awkward silence. "How can I help you?". Yes, the time had come. "I would like a prescription for the pill, please". Now, before we had arrived Mum had warned me that the doc would ask a bunch of slightly awkward questions. I took a depp breath and prepared myself for the onslaught. The little old man infront of me turned to his computer and printed off the prescription. I stared. Then, feeling as though I should at least ask some questions regarding my "sexual health", I said "So, how long after I start taking the pill do I have to wait, till, you know….. I start, sleeping with people?". Mum sat next to me, doubled-up in silent fits of laughter. He looked at me blankly. Handing me the script, he said "It's all in the packet". Mum and I walked out, bewildered. LOL!

Anyway, Mum says to wait till October, because then it'll only be 12months before I'm legal. She also said some crap about how Pete and I will have a stronger relationship by that time. Or something like that. As for now, I'm off to bed. Night guys, xx chick

  4. That’s funny! The old doctor didn’t want to talk to the young girl about sex 🙂 Some cross-cultural conflict going on.

  5. Well honey, be glad he didn’t want to do a pelvic exam. I do not know how a woman can go through one of those.

  6. Kinda like a man goes through a prostate exam I guess Mark. Or so Lonnie says. 😀 He said something about me being whiney when I complained.
