15 minutes of Fame

Filed under: My Life — happychick @ 6.38p06

I am in the Newspaper. Now, I dunno about you Texans, but getting in a cities' paper usually means you're a politician, murdered, child molester or embezzler. Well, I live in a small town and the newspaper usually consists of boring, useless information and today was no exception.

I walked into school today and this random (I believe his name's John) says to me; "Hey, you looked hot in the paper". I roundd on him. "What??" He explained that I was i the local rag, "posing" as he put it. then I remembered back to last Wednesdays dumbass class. The article had been printed. Throughought the day a number of people commented on my 15 minutes. So Pete and I went to the Newsagents to see what all the fuss was about. "Oh, My, God". I looked like a serial killer about to go on a rampage. An evil, Hannibal-Lecter-type gleam in my eyes. I was afraid. The colour pic was on the top corner of the front page, and then enlarged on Page 3. I was humiliated. But it got worse. When the journo had interviewed me, I had spelled out my name. Well, naturally, she spelled it wrong. And she manipulated my words to make me sound like a wired autistic kid. "The program is great fun. We all get along and I never have to worry what others think". I pictured a spaced-out 8yr old on her first day of school. So embarrassing.

In Texas definately! along with the lethal injections notice.

Maybe you should write your own piece and make the paper print THAT!

  3. in the Philippines, when you’re in the papers, it’s either you’re a rapist, corrupt politician, in showbizz or you jst stepped in front of the camera at the right time! hehe 😀

  4. Happychick, I agree with Mom, write it the way you remembered the interview going and submit it to the paper. If they refuse to print it, threaten to sue their ass for defamation of character. Bet that’ll get their attention.
