“Hippy chick”

Filed under: My Life — happychick @ 6.38p05

I'm quite frustrated at the moment. "Frustrated?" You ask. "What kind of a puntz are you?" Well, I won't say angry, as this is a bit of a Hippychick rant (hehe- get it? Hippy chick), and I don't imagine that hippies say such words as "Angry". The reason I'm frustrated is, well… Recycling. (I warned you-Hippy rant).

You see, in the town where I live, there is no recycling. And this is very common in rural areas. None. Nada. And for me, the city chick, used to washing and rinsing and sorting-out the lids from the bottles and what not, it's a far cry from the "save-the-earth" bull shite we've been fed from a young age. All of the boxes at work, made from the slaughtering of innocent trees, perfectly capable of being recycled and remade into NEW boxes, well, they get shoved in the dumpster. All of the "recyclable" crap we have at home is thrown into the bin, taking up room that REAL rubbish could go in.

Now, generally, I'm pretty ok with the environment. The way I see it, I put my litter in the bin at school, and Mother Nature refrains from striking me down with a stray bolt of lightning. But now, with the "Happy Chick- The tree-killer" sign I feel is stuck on my back, I could very well be mauled by a pit-bull, drowned in a puddle, or worse, I could slip and get fucked in the neck with a butterknife!- or whatever other cruel and heartless death nature has in store.

So I'm cursed. No recycle bin- no recycling. No recycling- No 20th birthday. See my dillemma?!

Now, I'm angry at my town, and my town council, for not providing us loyal townees with bins. But make no mistake- I will not start a demonstration. I will not tie myself to a tree naked(though that does sound rather exciting, no? :p). I will not sit around a campfire in my "el-naturale" mountain goat underwear and smoke a joint. I am not that kind of hippy.

But damn you, council! Damn you for condemning me to a painful death at the hands of nature.
